Suter + Suter is considered to have been among the most productive Swiss planning offices of the post-war era – at the same time being one of the great unknowns in the history of architecture. While individual buildings such as the Lonza Tower in Basel or the Sulzer Tower in Winterthur are regarded as icons, most of the buildings that make up their huge œuvre have remained unknown to this day. This publication is the first to provide a survey of the multifaceted work of the Basel company, active from 1945 to 1995 and responsible for thousands of projects and designs.

The book approaches the Suter + Suter phenomenon from various angles. It presents the history of the company, highlights the incredible breadth of its architectural production and reflects on aspect of mediatization and self-marketing.
