Real Intelligence (and Other Flows and Fictions)

«Basel Dialogues», a new series featuring conversations with experts from art, design and architecture

Real Intelligence (and Other Flows and Fictions), is the first volume of Basel Dialogues, a new critical book series from the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW. Featuring recent conversations among artists, architects, designers, poets, historians, and filmmakers within the context (and sometimes campus) of the Academy. Real Intelligence is philosophical, fervent, and often funny. Its dialogues concern issues of human and artificial intelligence, the documentary gesture and the real, the poor copies of coloniality, and fiction as a form of design. Flows—of images, peoples, waters, capital, and language—are repeatedly evoked, suggesting the speed at which our ideas move. In every case, though, the issues articulated transcend discipline, suggesting that the most imperative concerns of the present inevitably cross fields and form, just as those speaking do.

With Basel Abbas, Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Elise Lammer, Chus Martinez, Lauren Lee McCarthy, Mariana Pestana, Solveig Qu Suess, Himali Singh Soin, and Philip Ursprung in conversation, among many others.
