Celestino Piatti: Alles, was ich male, hat Augen / Everything I Paint Has Eyes

Large format opulently got up book marking the Swiss graphic artist’s 100th birthday

With works and personal photographs from his private archive unpublished to date

Piatti Days in Basel: 4 to 7 November 2021

The Swiss graphic artist and illustrator Celestino Piatti (1922–2007) designed more than 500 posters and 6000 book covers, mainly for the dtv publishing house. His graphic renderings of emotions and his imaginative images have marked the visual memory of several generations and still make a lively impact today.

With a wealth of iconic works as well as finds from the family’s private archive unpublished to date, this book tells the story of a designer obsessed by his profession. It outlines Piatti’s artistic career and highlights the extraordinary diversity of his oeuvre. Individual works are commented on and contextualised by some of Piatti’s companions and by graphic experts of today.

Der schwergewichtige, grossformatige, zweisprachige Bildband zeichnet ein farbiges, reiches Porträt des Menschen und des Bildkünstlers Piatti. (Beat Mazenauer, Keystone SDA, 26.10.2021)
